Traditionally, Kansa plates were considered ideal for serving food. Kansa is made from a blend of about 78–80% copper and 20–22% tin. The metal is repeatedly heated and hand-hammered by skilled artisans to create the desired shape. It is then refined, strengthened with a clay-and-salt coating, and polished using fine hammering and lathe work. Around 23 different steps are required to make a single Kansa product, making it a highly skilled craft passed down through generations.
